Enraged Wike sacks state newspaper boss for breaking Rivers COVID-19 story
An infuriated Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, reportedly took his anger out on the General Manager of the state-owned Newspaper Corporation, Vincent Ake, for breaking the story of the COVID-19 case in the state.
Ake, was summarily dismissed via a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, for reportedly reporting the case without clearance from the government house.
Though no reason was given by the commissioner for slamming the GM who was asked to handover to the most senior officer at the outfit, the publishers of Tide, sources tied the development to the coronavirus story.
