Editor Arrested, Denied Bail, remanded in Prison Custody for Allegedly Publishing “Injurious Falsehood”
On June 20, 2008 Mallam Saidu Sarki Usman, the Politics Editor, of the private daily ‘Leadership’ newspaper, based in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, was ordered to be remanded in prison Custody until June 25, 2008 by a Chief Magistrate Court presided over by Alhaji Salihu Attahiru in Minna, Niger State, North-central Nigeria. He was accused of allegedly publishing "injurious falsehood" against Alhaji Isa Mohammed, a former senator representing Niger South constituency.
